CV for working in Europe: a practical checklist

A cross-border CV has to answer practical questions early: what role you want, where you can work, which languages you use and whether your qualifications are relevant. It does not need inflated claims or a generic pan-European design.

Make cross-border facts easy to find

  • State the target location or relocation plan.
  • List language level honestly and name the language used at work.
  • Explain work authorization only when relevant and accurate.
  • Translate qualification names carefully instead of inventing an equivalent.

Adapt the document, not your history

Keep the same factual employment history while changing the summary, order and terminology for the vacancy. One base CV can support several targeted versions without creating contradictory dates or achievements.

Check the export

Before sending, select and copy text from the final PDF, inspect the reading order and run the document through Appliora's checker. This shows how Appliora's parser reads the file; it cannot guarantee how every employer's ATS behaves.
